Students planning to go to college should plan to take the PSAT The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is a test designed to help students practice for the SAT. It is also used to determine eligibility for scholarships awarded by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Almost all students take the PSAT during their junior year, but many take the PSAT when they are sophomores to get the feel of the test. The most common reasons for taking the PSAT/NMSQT are: To receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study.

The test will be on Wednesday, October 24. You may take the PSAT for free. The state of Georgia for 10th graders and MECHS pays for 9th, 11th and 12th graders.

You must sign up to take the test with Counselors in the Student Services office by Thursday, August 30.
